Open Studio Times
When:

Wednesdays 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

What:

Open Studio Times are times when I make my studio available for those who
would like to come and work with other metal clay enthusiasts.  There will be
no formal instruction, but I will be there to answer questions.
Things to keep in mind about open studios:

  • Times are firm unless you make special arrangements with me, so
    please plan accordingly.

  • Cancellations due to weather:  If the Ellsworth School Department
closes school for the day, I will close the studio.

  • As always, use of all tools and supplies in my studio is available to you.
Please keep in mind that I do not have an unlimited amount of tools.
Those who plan on working with any sort of clay on a regular basis
should consider purchasing their own tools to guarantee availability.   I
can order tools for you if you wish or I can give you a list of suggested
tools and my resources as to where I buy them.

  • Clay and other "large" supplies (i.e. anything that requires an upfront
cost of more than a few dollars) will be kept at a minimum. I can't
always guarantee that I will have enough clay on hand for you.  If you
know ahead of time that you will have a need for a certain amount of
clay, let me know and I can order it for you.  It can take up to a week to
get clay in, depending on where I order it from, but never less than
three or four days unless I spend large amounts on shipping.  I ask
that you keep this in mind.  I will do my best to keep a few small
packets of PMC and bronze on hand, but can't guarantee that I will
have any at the last minute.

  • Firing:  Silver clay can be fired while you wait if you don't mind a shorter firing schedule.  PMC original and rings made from PMC 3
should be fired for the maximum 2 hours and can't be done during open studio times.

  • PMC Sterling, BronzClay and COPPRClay must all be fired surrounded by carbon and have longer firing times.  Generally, it will not be
possible to fire them during the studio time and you will need to make arrangements to pick them up or they will be ready for you the
    next week.
